Due Date Update

Well, Baby's due date has come and gone (May 29). So we are waiting...a little impatiently! We have been trying everything we have heard of to induce labor naturally, but this kid is already stubborn! I think he/she is trying to tell us that WE are no longer in control of things!

I was very elated that the baby let me graduate on May 13 with no problems whatsoever...except maybe having to pee badly during the entire ceremony! So, I finished up school and received my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at 38 weeks pregnant.

For the last two weeks, I have learned what the word patience really means. I have never been SO anxious for anything in my life! We have everything ready for the baby...but...no baby...yet! I am trying to take everybody's advice and just ENJOY my quiet days and leisurely naps while I still can!

Because they say only 5% of babies are born on their actual due dates, David and I decided it was worth the "risk" to drive to Topeka yesterday for a "last date" together. We had lunch and saw a movie, got some ice cream, and took back roads ALL the way home in the truck to try to bounce the baby out! It didn't work...but it was still a fun day together!

I would really like to be out on the lake this Memorial Day, but since I can't be, I thought I would put up some pictures of my 2nd-half-of-pregnancy belly and the nursery!

Tracking Baby Crotts

As you all probably know by now, we are expecting our first little one in late May (the 29th, specifically). And hopefully not until then, as I graduate from PT school on May 13! Ideally, I would graduate first and then welcome the baby!

I found out I was pregnant at the end of September. David was in TX to take his manual therapy certification exam, and my sister was visiting me in Emporia. I kept it a secret from David until he got home, since I wanted him to focus on passing his test with no distractions! It was incredibly hard to do, but at least I got to tell my sister and mom in the meantime. On October 16, we hosted a housewarming/anniversary celebration where we let family and friends in on the excitement. Below is my creativity at work.

I worked most of the way through my first trimester in KC, while staying with cousins Kayley and Brad in Lawrence, and learning the ropes of taking care of a baby (since they have one!). I was extremely fortunate in that I didn't have morning sickness at all and only felt nauseous on a couple of occasions. The only pregnancy complaint I really have (so far) is that my face has been broken out, but that is just a minor annoyance!

I have enjoyed the past month of vacation from school/work and spent it mostly relaxing at home and planning for baby. My final clinical starts on January 17 and ends in early March. Although the break has been nice, I am excited to go back to working and having a busy schedule so the days go by faster. I am sure May will be here before we know it! Below are pictures of my growing belly (although it is just now starting to resemble a baby bump), as well as my favorite sonogram pictures from our 20-week visit to the doctor yesterday. Baby is very active (squirming, swallowing, and punching my bladder) and completely perfect...and we are HALF WAY THROUGH! Oh, and we are going to patiently wait and find out 'boy or girl' the old-fashioned way. David gets his way this time around... ;)
